Check which council serves your address
Reading Borough Council is the starting point for borough services such as household collections, housing, planning and libraries. Its website also brings together local facilities and ways to report a problem. Use the service page that matches your enquiry so it reaches the right team.
The wider Reading area crosses council boundaries. Woodley and Earley are within Wokingham borough, while places west of Reading may fall within West Berkshire. Check the council for your address before making an enquiry; a Reading postal address alone is not enough to decide.
Find somewhere to meet or join in
The council's community-space pages include places such as Battle Library Community Hub and South Reading Community Hub. Start there when you want to find a room or an activity close to home. Caversham Library on Church Street is another neighbourhood contact for library services.
For a class or a room booking, ask the organiser about the particular session, capacity, access and equipment. A building can host several independent groups, each with different arrangements. The hall or library opening does not mean every activity is running.
Give your time where it fits
Reading Voluntary Action helps local organisations and connects people with volunteering opportunities. Its information can help you find a role that fits the time and skills you have. Ask what a role involves before committing, including any induction or checks required.
RISC on London Street combines community activity, meeting space and its World Shop. Its own website is the place to explore current opportunities and contact the team.
Look close to home
Use the directory to find community organisations and local venues by area, then contact the group directly.
